UrbanFake is a network for examining information, adding context, comparing perspectives and opening discussion.
Information can be incomplete, disputed, selectively presented or difficult to understand without context. UrbanFake provides a space where people can share content, a claim, a narrative or a subject they believe deserves closer examination.
Users can create a report, explain why a subject deserves attention, add context and open the discussion. Other participants can contribute information and sources, compare perspectives and enrich the discussion.
UrbanFake does not decide what is true or false
UrbanFake is not an arbiter of truth.
Reports reflect the information, observations and interpretations shared by their authors. The platform does not automatically validate or reject claims, and it does not turn every report into a verdict.
A report is not a verdict: it is an invitation to examine, contextualize and discuss information.
UrbanFake provides the space to examine information collectively.
An app available today
UrbanFake is no longer a concept or a prototype.
The Android app is publicly available and currently allows users to:
- discover recent reports and subjects attracting attention;
- create a report about information or a subject that deserves closer examination;
- add context, information and sources;
- contribute to discussions;
- compare different perspectives;
- explore subjects shared across the network.
The product continues to evolve, but UrbanFake is already a functional application available to the public.
An independent project
UrbanFake is currently an independent project, designed, developed and led by its founder.
This independence makes it possible to build the product progressively around a simple idea: providing a space where information can be examined collectively, enriched with context and discussed from different perspectives.
UrbanFake’s ambition is to grow the network, continuously improve the experience and explore new ways to help people understand how information is produced, presented, shared and discussed.
